Picspam: Top 10 scenes from The Clinic

Because I love The Clinic and cannot stop thinking about it, here's a picspam of my top ten favourite scenes :D Images are taken from the trailer. I had to ~improvise a little for a few of these scenes.

THE CLINIC (2010)

From IMDB: While traveling across country with her fiancé, Beth wakes alone in an isolated clinic to a mother's worst nightmare. Just how far will she go to save her child?



WARNING: Contains moderate spoilers for the film.
I've tried to leave out the major plot-twists as best I could. Think of this as more of a teaser for you spoilerphiles ;)



1. Waking up.



God, this scene totally gut-wrenching to watch if it weren't for the fact that Tabrett Bethell was completely starkers. I mean.. it's still incredibly hard to watch. Beth wakes up alone in a bath of ice after being kidnapped from a motel room. Her unborn child has been taken from her, and basically she freaks the fuck out. Who wouldn't?

A set of clothes marked 'DCVIII" are lying on a chair for her. She climbs out of the bath and stumbles toward the chair, collapsing to the floor on the way. Beth's an emotional wreck - she's vulnerable, confused and in complete despair. Oh god, Tab D: You slay me. Someone give that woman an AFI nomination for this. What we saw of Tabrett's acting skills in Legend of the Seeker is nothing compared to what she brings to this film. The nudity didn't feel at all gratuitous. Tabrett is bloody brilliant as Beth.

2. "Evolution's a bitch."

(Footage from the scene isn't in the trailer, but here... have some Beth + baby! ♥)



This scene happens towards the end, so the only comment I'll leave for it is: Beth, you look super adorable holding a baby :D


3. Beth finding the empty cages.



Okay, so Beth has figured out a way to free the babies and identify which one is hers (there's no way to do a DNA test as this film is ~set in the 70s. "All the babies look the same." Dun dun duuuun!) To her distress, however, Beth returns to find the cages completely empty. All the shit Beth went through to reach this point got her no closer to rescuing her child. Oh Tab, you break my heart. Again. D': The truth is: when you're a pawn in someone else's fucked up game, there are no winners.


4. Chained to the floor.



Another heartbreaking scene and spectacular performance from Tabrett. Beth is chained to the floor, and forced to watch as her baby is sold to another woman. A man holds a gun to her head, and there's nothing she can do to defend herself.


5. Trying to escape from the clinic.



This is really a continuation of scene #1, but A) it's an amazing part of the film, B) Tabrett is brilliant and C) there's only so many scenes in the trailer. Beth has gone outside after waking up and is still on her own. She attempts to escape the abattoir, but is trapped by the fence. She tries to dig her way under it, but her wound starts bleeding and she passes out.


6. The opening roadtrip.



The film opens with a super-pregnant Beth and her fiance (aka. Spartacus, the one and only) travelling down a highway in the Middle of Nowhere, NSW, Orstralia. They're visiting Beth's mother for Christmas, and Beth is trying to figure out what to write in the Christmas card. Adorable cuteness alert #1!


7. Distressed cows

(Okay, the top few pics are from a slightly earlier scene, because I didn't realise the actual scene was in the trailer until after I'd put the images together. I've kept it in anyway ;D)




Clare Bowen's character, Ivy, is stuck in a labyrinth of cow pens. She's freaking out, the cows are freaking out, I'm freaking out - basically everyone's freaking the hell out! Clare revealed in the Q&A session that they'd taken the calves away from their mothers to make the cows so genuinely distressed. (OI! Isn't that just like a G-rated version of the plot of this film?!) Apparently the mud was freezing too xD

Tight enclosed spaces + a killer on the loose + crazy heigtening suspense = OMG *hides*


8. The pool scene.



Super adorable alert #2! The cuteness before the storm ♥ Beth and her fiance snuggle up by the side of a pool and for just a second I ship Cara/Spartacus in this bizarre AU xD


9. Getting a motel room



The couple find a motel to crash at. The owner remarks about how smokin' hot Beth is (her bewbs in particular) and then charges whatshisface extra, because he counts the unborn baby as a third person. The next motel is two hours away, so the couple give in and take the room anyway.

"Look at the tits on her!"


10. The epilogue.



Adorable cuteness alert #562! Again, there's no footage from this in the trailer so I'm just gonna spam you with cute Tab :D


Honourable mention:
Every scene with Beth and Veronica (Freya Stafford) in it. TWO HBICs = *BRAIN MELT* Freya does a fantastic job in this film! NGL, I was a little teenage Harriet Walker fangirl and loved her in White Collar Blue.

Oooooooh I am so excited as this movie comes to London in a few weeks.

I will have to hide this awesomeness from my partner though as she is wigging already that its going to be scary, she does not do scary movies!! lol

eee, yay! You'll have to write up a review after you watch it - I'd love to read what you think of it :D

Except for a few scenes, I didn't find it too scary. Most of the film I was like "oh god, these poor characters. What the hell are the writers putting them through?!"

Beth has an amusing Cara-ish moment in #8. Love Tab sfm. It's amazing how many sides to Tab's acting we get in this film - funny, cute, vulnerable, distraught, confused, kickass... ♥

I got to see the movie last night here in Sydney and I loved it. I agree Tabrett really is brilliant in it...she absolutely shines in this movie. You were correct in saying that she brings a different set of skills to this movie.

The scene where she wakes up in the tub and realises whats happened to her is absolutely heartbreaking and Tab really sells it to the audience.

All the actresses were brilliant in their portrayal of just how far will you go when pushed to extremes.

All I can say if you get the chance you have to go and see this movie.

Mhmm. It was so weird.. Beth is completely different to Cara. I actually almost forgot Tabrett Bethell was the same actress who played Cara, just because I was so blown away by her performance here.

The crew are really lucky to have cast her - Tab does a great job in making Beth's story convincing.

i wanna see this movie SO BAD, even though i know it will make me a crying mess. i mean, LOOK AT HER. *sniffles*
also, Desecreated is airing here in Germany right now and Cara just volunteered to kill herself AND I CAN'T DEAL! XD Those caps and that scene?! *dead*
